Visita Siena
Siena
Known throughout the world, the splendid Siena was among the most important economic and cultural centers of the Italian Middle Ages. The historic center, a UNESCO world heritage site, is a huge open-air museum that allows you to retrace the salient stages of the history of this illustrious city. Among the main attractions of the city, not to be missed, there is the Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption, the route of the Via Francigena, an essential communication route in the history of the city and a road along which it is possible to admire the most important buildings and monuments, including the main building of Monte dei Paschi, the oldest bank in Europe and Palazzo Tolomei, one of the most beautiful gothic Italian palaces, Palazzo Chigi Saracini and seat of the Chigiana Music Academy and last but not least the wonderful Piazza del Campo, beating heart of the Sienese culture and an extraordinary architectural setting where, twice a year, the famous Palio di Siena takes place.
