Founded during the Arab domination as a defensive hamlet on the slopes of Mount Ca-puto, Monreale is a wonderful city where you can admire the domain and the architec-tural creations of Arab-Norman dynasty dating back to the eleventh century. Baroque palaces and marble fountains were a gift by the aristocracy and bourgeoisie of Palermo family who wanted to donate elegance and prestige to the city. The most important monument of this beautiful town is undoubtedly the Arabic – Norman Cathedral, with marvelous mosaics, declared UNESCO World Heritage site and that made Monreale famous worldwide. We’ll visit the Cathedral and the cloister of the Benedictines.
